My current research focus includes understanding the movement and storage of water and nutrients in soil and its effects on agricultural production and environmental health, improving soil water measurement and monitoring, understanding the spatially and temporally variability of soil water at different scales, improving water storage capability on reclaimed and remediated landscapes. Key specialties include soil and environmental physics, vadose-zone hydrology, soil water measurement and monitoring, soil water repellency, soil mycology, land reclamation, and soil spatial and temporally variability.

Research interests

I am a statistical geneticist and bioinformatician working across human and other species. My main research has been focusing on potential roles of gene-environment (GxE) and gene-gene (GxG) interactions in shaping complex phenotypes. I also have a wide range of interests including epigenomics and metagenomics.

Here my foci are (1) providing bioinformatics support to facilitate metagenomics related projects and (2) developing ideas and projects to address health issues shared across species.

Research Interests:

My current research covers a broad range of initiatives addressing high productivity, low footprint production systems. A key focus is on quantifying nutrient losses from cropping systems, linking these to soil, climate and management factors, and identifying practices to minimize adverse impacts on water bodies. Other research interests include digital horticulture and climate change which have a focus on improving the productivity, profitability and resilience of cropping systems.
